How to register

Purchase orders
Purchase orders are accepted from US government organizations, schools and Fortune 1000 companies. Purchase orders which include patent indemnity clauses or which require a warranty inconsistent with Co-motion's stated warranty will not be accepted. Payment terms are net 30 days.
Site licensing
Site licenses are available to permit the use of Co-motion within companies or government agencies. A site license allows internal use and copying for a specified number of computers.
The fee for a site license is $25 US for each computer covered. The minimum license fee is $250 US which includes licensing for the first 10 computers. Additional discounts may be negotiated if a large number of machines are licensed.
To request a site license, send a letter specifying your organization’s name and address, as they should appear on the site license contract, and indicate the number of computers you wish to have covered by the license. You will receive two copies of the site license which must be signed and returned with payment of the site license fee. An authorized copy of the site license will be mailed to you along with Co-motion Browser which can be installed on all the machines you have licensed.
What is Shareware?
“Shareware” is a method of software distribution which gives users a chance to try software before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to register. Details vary for individual programs -- some request registration while others require it; some specify a maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue using the software, to an updated program with printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the copyright holder retains all rights with a few specific exceptions as stated below. Like commercial authors, Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, and the programs are of comparable quality (in both cases, there are good programs and bad ones). The "Co-motion_Pkg"
Co-motion is distributed as a single file called “Co-motion_Pkg” which is a self-extracting archive. When this file is opened from the Finder™, it creates a folder containing the Co-motion application and supporting documentation.
The following items are included in the Co-motion package: Co-motion application program, a registration form, this readme file, and a quick reference file.
Distribution
Co-motion Browser is a Shareware program and is provided at no charge to the user for evaluation. You are encouraged to copy and distribute Co-motion Browser for non-commercial use with the following restrictions.
You may copy and distribute the self-extracting “Co-motion_Pkg” file but not the individual application and document files. This ensures that users receive a complete package with all documentation files.
You may not modify the “Co-motion_Pkg” file in any way.
You may not charge any fee for the use, copying, or distribution of the product.
Clubs and user groups may charge a nominal fee (not to exceed $10) for expenses while distributing Co-motion Browser. All other organizations must obtain written permission to distribute copies of Co-motion Browser if any fee is charged for the use, copying, or distribution of Co-motion Browser.
Warrantee
Co-motion is supplied as is. Bittco hereby disclaims all warranties relating to this software, whether express or implied, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Bittco will not be liable for any special, incidental, consequential, indirect or similar damages due to loss of data or any other reason, even if Bittco, or an agent of Bittco has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall Bittco's liability for any damages ever exceed the price paid for the license to use the software, regardless of the form of the claim. The person using the software bears all risk as to the quality and performance of the software.
Help and documentation
The file 'Server Quick Reference' is indispensable. It provides an overview of the purpose of the software, and it judiciously delineates the minimum required skills to use the software. It's a must for all who plan to understand and use the software, especially first-time users and groups. Even if you don't typically consult documentation, you may consider printing at least this file and keeping it handy for reference -- and advising others to do so as well. This measure will go a long way to ensuring that you get the most from the software even the first time you use it.
Complete documentation is available via WWW from Bittco's site. Simply ensure that you have a WWW browser like Netscape or Mosaic active, then choose the 'Co-motion help' item from the '? Overview
Co-motion for Internet empowers efficient and effective collaboration for teams, departments, task forces, even for groups separated by distance and time. Real-time, multi-user technology energizes collaboration as participants brainstorm and evaluate ideas in a session over the network. Idea generation, annotation, and evaluation tools focus the group on resolving their issues and taking action. Participant results can be instantly organized by printing a variety of reports that separate the good from bad ideas as well as identify areas of consensus and disagreement.
Other features include private and public chatting as well as tools for finding, listing, and scrolling through the ideas in a shared, live document called the session. Host as many sessions as you can handle, with as many people as you want, wherever and whenever it is convenient.
Co-motion adds real-time group interaction and decision-making to the World Wide Web (WWW), offering a new dimension of experience and usefulness to your web site.
The WWW can provide an entry point to Co-motion servers and sessions. Participants can join Co-motion servers and sessions via clicks on web documents that can range in purpose from spiffy entry points to your company's Co-motion server to detailed backgrounders on your team's toughest issues. Participants require the Co-motion for Internet Browser application that is available as shareware from Bittco's Web site.
Additionally, participants in Co-motion session can navigate the Internet from Co-motion. URLs that participants add to discussions in Co-motion are clickable. This means that when participants click URLs in Co-motion, the URLs are launched in participants' favorite web browsers like Netscape or Mosiac, displaying the web document, sending mail, downloading a file via ftp, or doing anything else that's possible via URLs -- all from a click in Co-motion.
Whether implemented among team members in your company or broadly distributed across the world-wide-web, Co-motion marks one of the newest and most exciting ways for groups to interact in real-time over the Internet.
System requirements
Co-motion for Internet requires a Mac® running System 7 or better, 1 MB of available RAM, a hard disk, MacTCP, and a connection to a TCP/IP network like the Internet.
Web browsers and servers are available from third parties. Supported browsers include the latest versions of Netscape and Mosaic.
Installation
Co-motion for Internet is distributed as a single file called “Co-motion_Pkg” which is a self-extracting archive. When this file is opened from the Finder™, it creates a folder containing the Co-motion for Internet application and supporting documentation.
To install Co-motion for Internet, double-click the package. When prompted to extract, choose a location on your hard drive, preferably on the startup disk (the one which has your System folder). A folder called 'Co-motion® 1.9.1 ƒ ( fat )' is created with the program and supporting documentation inside.
All participants also require a copy of Co-motion for Internet. Consult your 'Server Quick Reference' for more details.
